726                                     LAWS OF MARYLAND                             Ch. 322

FOR PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY NOT LATER THAN 9:00 P.M. ON
THE MONDAY WHICH IS SEVENTY (70) DAYS BEFORE THE DAY ON
WHICH THE SPECIAL PRIMARY ELECTION IS TO BE HELD. [[EACH
PETITION FOR THE SPECIAL PRIMARY ELECTION ON JULY 17, 1973,
SHALL BE FILED WITH THE BOARD OF ELECTION SUPERVISORS
FOR PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY NOT LATER THAN 9:00 P.M. ON
JUNE 4, 1973.11 EACH PETITION FOR NOMINATION SHALL BE
ACCOMPANIED BY A TWENTY-FIVE DOLLAR ($25.00) FILING FEE.
[[WITH THESE EXCEPTIONS,]] EACH PETITION SHALL CONFORM
GENERALLY TO THE LAWS AND REQUIREMENTS OF ARTICLE 33 OF
THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND [[,]] . [[PROVIDED,
HOWEVER, THAT PUBLICATION OF THE PETITION SHALL NOT BE
REQUIRED.]]

(2)    IF AFTER THE EXPIRATION OF THE TIME ALLOWED FOR
FILING OF PETITIONS BY THIS SECTION, THERE ARE NO MORE
THAN TWO NOMINEES FOR A PARTICULAR [[COUNCILMANIC]]
DISTRICT OFFICE [[OR EIGHT FOR THE AT-LARGE OFFICES]], THE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ELECTIONS SHALL CERTIFY THOSE
CANDIDATES AS DULY NOMINATED CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION
FOR THOSE PARTICULAR BOARD OF EDUCATION [[OFFICERS]]
OFFICES. THOSE NAMES AND THE NAME OF THE POSITION FOR
WHICH THEY ARE CANDIDATES SHALL BE OMITTED FROM THE
BALLOT REQUIRED BY PARAGRAPH THREE (3) OF THIS
SUBSECTION.

(3)    IF AFTER THE EXPIRATION OF THE TIME ALLOWED FOR
FILING OF PETITIONS, THERE ARE MORE THAN TWO NOMINEES
FOR A PARTICULAR [[COUNCILMANIC]] DISTRICT OFFICE [[OR
EIGHT FOR THE AT-LARGE OFFICES]] , THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF ELECTIONS SHALL PROVIDE THE MEANS
WHEREBY ALL DULY REGISTERED VOTERS OF THE COUNTY,
IRRESPECTIVE OF PARTY AFFILIATION, MAY VOTE FOR THE
NOMINEES FOR THE BOARD AT THE PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE
HELD AT THE TIME AND PLACE FOR HOLDING THE PRIMARY
ELECTIONS OF THE POLITICAL PARTIES. IN TAKING THE BALLOT,
VOTING MACHINES SHALL BE USED, PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT
IF THE NUMBER OF CANDIDATES SUBMITTED FOR VOTE AT THE
PRIMARY ELECTIONS IS TOO LARGE FOR THE PRACTICAL USE OF
VOTING MACHINES, THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ELECTIONS
SHALL SUPPLY PAPER BALLOTS IN THE USUAL FORM FOR USE IN
VOTING. THE NOMINEES IN THE PRIMARY. ELECTION, EQUAL TO
TWICE THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS TO BE ELECTED TO THE
PARTICULAR BOARD OFFICES, WHO RECEIVE THE LARGEST
NUMBER OF VOTES AT THE PRIMARY ELECTION SHALL BE DULY
NOMINATED CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION TO THE BOARD OFFICES.
THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS FOR PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY
SHALL, UPON THE COMPLETION OF ITS CANVASS OF VOTERS AT
THE PRIMARY ELECTION, DETERMINE WHO ARE THE DULY
NOMINATED CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION TO THE RESPECTIVE
BOARD OFFICES AND SHALL CERTIFY THEM TO THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF ELECTIONS OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY. ANY
PERSON WHO HAS QUALIFIED UNDER THIS SECTION AS A
CANDIDATE FOR NOMINATION TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION,
AND WHO IS REQUIRED, BY VIRTUE OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
SECTION, TO RUN IN A PRIMARY ELECTION, MAY ON OR BEFORE
[[SIXTY-FIVE (65)]] FORTY-FIVE (45) DAYS PRECEDING THE
