AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3(j) of Article 59 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume and 1972
Supplement), title "Mental Hygiene," subtitle "Short Title, Statement of Policy
and Definitions," correcting certain errors in the laws relating to mental
hygiene.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 3(j) of Article 59 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title "Mental
Hygiene," subtitle "Short Title, Statement of Policy and Definitions," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(j) "Release" shall mean any discharge, parole or other departure from a
facility or a Veterans' Administration hospital [;] , by and with the consent of
someone having authority to consent to such departure[;] , of any patient of such
facility or Veterans' Administration hospital whether on a permanent or
temporary, absolute or conditional basis.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

199(c) of Article 16 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement
Volume, 1971 Supplement and 1972 Interim Supplement), title "Chancery,"
subtitles, respectively, "Paternity Proceedings," and "Trustee," to correct
certain errors in the laws relating to paternity proceedings and trustees.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 66E(d), 198(a), and 199(c) of Article 16 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume, 1971 Supplement and
1972 Interim Supplement), title "Chancery," subtitles, respectively, "Paternity
Proceedings," and "Trustee," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
66E.
(d) When a defendant or defendants is or are arrested pursuant to a warrant, he
or they shall be taken before the court issuing it, or before any commissioner of
the District Court; and the court or commissioner shall require the defendant or
defendants to give bond to the State of Maryland in [in] an appropriate penalty,
with good and sufficient securities, conditioned that they will appear in the court
issuing such warrant on a specified day and at a specified time to answer the
complaint and to obey any order which may be passed or which shall have been
passed by the court in the proceedings. In default of such security, the court or
