3.   [Small] ANY business with not more than [three (3)] SIX (6) persons on
any one shift ON SUNDAY.

(d)   Nothing in this section is applicable to any person who by reason of his
religious conviction observes a day other than Sunday as his day of rest and
actually refrains from labor or secular business on that day. The term "a day other
than Sunday" as used herein shall mean any consecutive twenty-four hour period.

(e)   Notwithstanding any provision of this section, any establishment which
offers service as its primary business is allowed to operate on Sunday.

(f) Industries where continuous processing or manufacturing is required by the
very nature of the process involved are allowed to operate on Sunday.

(g) All recreational activities, sports, and amusements are permitted on Sunday.

(h) Nothing in this section shall be deemed or construed to amend other
provisions of law with reference to the prohibition of work, sport, business,
alcoholic beverage sales, or the service of process on Sunday, nor shall anything
herein be construed to permit any new or used car dealer to sell, dispose, barter,
deal in, deliver, give away, show or offer for sale any motor vehicle or any
certificate of title for any motor vehicle on Sunday.

(i) The State's Attorney of Baltimore County may petition the Circuit Court to
enjoin any violation of this section.

(j) Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of this section is
guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, is subject to the following penalties.
The first conviction is punished by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars
($100.00), a second conviction is punished by a fine not to exceed five hundred
dollars ($500.00), and for a third or subsequent conviction by a fine not to exceed
five hundred dollars ($500.00) for each employee caused, directed, or authorized to
work in violation of this section. Nothing contained herein shall be construed to
permit any fine upon any employee or agent who has been caused or directed by
his employer to violate the provisions of this section.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That if any provision of
this Act or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid for
any reason in a court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity shall not affect the
other provisions or any other application of this Act which can be given effect
without the invalid provisions or application, and to this end all the provisions of
this Act are declared to be severable.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

(Senate Bill 1038)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 48(a) of Article 81 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Supplement), title "Revenue and
Taxes," subtitle "When Taxes Are Payable," and to add a new Section 48(g) to
this section (1969 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), to follow
immediately after Section 48(f) thereof, specifying the rate of interest on taxes
overdue, in arrears, and payable to the City of Salisbury.
