from the tax.

3. Notwithstanding the provisions of this subsection, no tax shall be paid on the
issuance of any certificate of title where the owner of the vessel for which a
certificate of title is applied for was the owner of the vessel prior to June 1, 1965.
The Department may require the applicant for titling to submit proof satisfactory
to it to prove the ownership of the vessel by the applicant prior to June 1, 1965.

(3) NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISION OF THIS ARTICLE TO
THE CONTRARY, FUNDS, RECEIVED INTO THE WATERWAYS
IMPROVEMENT FUND MAY BE USED FOR THE AMORTIZATION
AND PAYMENT OF INTEREST ON BONDS ISSUED FOR THE
FINANCING OF PROJECTS FOR WHICH SUCH FUNDS MAY
OTHERWISE BE EXPENDED PURSUANT TO THIS ARTICLE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 218
(Senate Bill 300)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 36(1)(c) of Article 101
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and 1972
Supplement), title "Workmen's Compensation," subtitle "Claims and
Compensation; Benefits," to make the provisions of the section relating to
payment of compensation to wives upon the death of an employee applicable to
a spouse of either sex.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 36(1)(c) of Article 101 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title "Workmen's
Compensation," subtitle "Claims and Compensation; Benefits," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

36(1).

(c) The compensation for the foregoing specific injury shall be paid in addition
to, and consecutively with, the compensation hereinafter provided in subsection (2)
of this section. If any employee dies from any cause or causes not compensate
under this article, the right to any compensation payable under this subsection,
unpaid at the date of his death, shall survive to his surviving dependents as the
Commission may determine, if there be such surviving dependents, and if there be
none such, then to his OR HER [wife] SPOUSE and children under twenty-one
years of age if there was, at the time of his death, a legal obligation on the part of
said employee to support his OR HER [wife] SPOUSE, and if there was no such
obligation, then to his children under twenty-one, if any, alone.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
