COUNTY LOCAL LAWS
contained in this Act shall not become effective
unless and until they are approved pursuant to, or
meet the requirements of, all rules and regulations
promulgated by the President of the United States and
other federal officials pursuant to the Economic
Stabilization Act of 1970, as amended. (Public Law

AN ACT to amend the Prince George's County Code of
Public Local Laws, Subtitle 21, entitled "Crimes
and Punishment," by adding a new Section 21-5,
entitled "Transit Fares," to provide the
requirement that duly established transit fares
be paid and to provide the penalty for failure to
so pay.
WHEREAS, the County Count. has been advised that
some bus riders in Prince George's County have been
refusing to pay duly established fares and insisting
upon riding the buses, and
WHEREAS, such refusal has caused disruption in
transit service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL FOR PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, that Section 21-5,
entitled "Transit Fares," be added to Subtitle 21,
Prince George's County Code of Public Local Laws,
entitled "Crimes and Punishment," to read as
hereinafter set forth:
SEC. 21-5. TRANSIT FARES.
IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON TO BOARD A
MASS TRANSIT VEHICLE FOR WHICH A FARE HAS BEEN DULY
ESTABLISHED WITHOUT PAYING THE DULY ESTABLISHED FARE
OR PRESENTING A VALID TRANSFER FOR TRANSPORTATION ON
THE SAID MASS TRANSIT VEHICLE.
ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
SECTION SHALL BE GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON
CONVICTION THEREOF BE PUNISHED BY A FINE NOT TO EXCEED
