COUNTY LOCAL LAWS

community development; to transfer the
responsibility for sanitation, environmental
health and related activities from the department
of health to the new department of environmental
protection; to establish a new department of
community and economic development to include
functions and activities of planning for county
facilities, review of plans, and capital
programming, housing, industrial and commercial
development, community development, including
urban renewal and relocation, and architectural
and building construction services; to establish
a new department of corrections and
rehabilitation to operate all detention and
rehabilitation programs and related activities;
to establish a new department of environmental
protection to operate animal control and
protection, environmental health, fire prevention
and protection, inspection and licenses, and
other related functions and activities; to
provide that the words "department of
environmental protection" are hereby substituted
for "department of inspection and licenses" and
reference to "director", "acting director",
"building inspector", or "building official"
shall mean director of the department of
environmental protection and his authorized
agents in the following chapters, articles,
sections and subsections of this code: Section
158(i), Article 2B, Annotated Code of Maryland,
1966 Replacement Volume, title "Alcoholic
Beverages"; Section 1—7A, title "Alternative
Method of Enforcement; Notice of Violation";
Chapter 12, title "Hotels, Tourist Homes,
Trailers, etc."; Section 14-12, title "Benefit
Performances", of Chapter 14, title "Licensing
and Regulation Generally"; Chapter 19, title
"Ponds, Wells and Excavations"; Chapter 23, title
"Solicitors, Hawkers and Peddlers"; Article II,
title "Licenses Generally" and Article III, title
"Outdoor Theaters", Chapter 75, title
"Amusements"; Chapter 76, title "Animals and
Fowl"; Chapter 79, title "Building Code"; Chapter
79A, title "Building Contractor's License";
Chapter 81, title "Child Care"; Chapter 83, title
"Electricity"; Chapter 87, title "Garbage and
Refuse"; Chapter 89, title "Hospitals,
Sanitariums, Nursing and Care Homes"; Chapter 90,
title "Hostels, Booming and Boardinghouses and
Tourist Hoses"; Chapter 92, title "Junk Dealers
