(F) DOMESTICATED ANIMALS. ANIMALS WHICH
ARE NATURALLY TAME AND GENTLE OR WHICH BY LONG
CONTINUED ASSOCIATION WITH MAN HAVE BECOME
THOROUGHLY DOMESTICATED INCLUDING, BUT NOT
LIMITED TO, DOGS, CATS, HORSES, MULES, GOATS,
COWS, CALF, CATTLE, SHEEP, SWINE, POULTRY, AND
ALL OTHER ANIMALS WHICH BY HABIT OR TRAINING LIVE
IN ASSOCIATION WITH MAN.
17.503 Impoundment
Whenever any person finds [a dog] ANY
DOMESTICATED ANIMAL running at large, he may
notify the Animal [Welfare Society, which]
CONTROL OFFICER WHO may cause the [dog]
DOMESTICATED ANIMAL to be taken and impounded.
[Such dog] THE DOMESTICATED ANIMAL may be
confined and disposed of [(] either by destroying
or [being] offered for adoption [ (] OR SOLD AT
PUBLIC AUCTION AFTER NOTICE PUBLISHED IN TWO
NEWSPAPERS PUBLISHED IN THE COUNTY if not
identified and claimed within five (5) days after
its capture. No owner may claim his [dog]
DOMESTICATED ANIMAL unless and until all charges
incident to the confinement of the [dog]
DOMESTICATED ANIMAL shall be paid. Upon the
capture of any [dog] DOMESTICATED ANIMAL, the
[Society] ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER shall notify the
owner of its capture, if his identity can be
ascertained through license records, if any, or
otherwise.
17.505 Liability for Impounding Fee
Where the owner of an impounded [dog]
DOMESTICATED ANIMAL can be ascertained such owner
shall be liable for the impounding fee and other
proper charges even in cases wherein the [dog]
DOMESTICATED ANIMAL is disposed of pursuant to
Section 17.503 of this Act. In addition to the
impounding fee the Animal Control Officer may
issue a summons pursuant to Section 17.506 of
this Act.
8.201 Running at Large - Generally
No person shall allow any horse, mule, cow,
calf, [horned] cattle, sheep, swine, poultry,
cats or other domestic animals or pets to run at
large off the premises of the owner in the
