HOWARD COUNTY

DETERMINING SIGNS OF RAT INFESTATION OR RAT HARBORAGE.
IF THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT RATS HAVE BEEN PRESENT, THEY
MAY ORDER, BY WRITTEN NOTICE, EITHER THE OWNER,
OCCUPANT, AGENT OR ANY OTHER PERSON IN CUSTODY OF THE
BUSINESS STRUCTURE TO HAVE THE BUILDING RAT-PROOFED
IMMEDIATELY ACCORDING TO RULES AND REGULATIONS ADOPTED
PURSUANT TO THIS SUB-TITLE, REGARDLESS OF THE NEED FOR
REMODELING OF OR REPAIRS TO THE STRUCTURE. THEY MAY
FURTHER ORDER THAT RAT CONTROL MEASURES ON THE
PREMISES, AS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE HEALTH OFFICER OR

[[BUILDING INSPECTOR,]] HIS AUTHORIZED

REPRESENTATIVES, BE UNDERTAKEN IMMEDIATELY TO
ERADICATE ALL RATS PRESENT AND TO MAINTAIN THE
STRUCTURE FREE OF RATS. THE WRITTEN NOTICE AND ORDER
SHALL SPECIFY THE TIME, IN NO EVENT LESS THAN FIFTEEN
(15) DAYS, FOR COMPLETION OF THE RAT-STOPPAGE WORK.
UNLESS THE WORK AND IMPROVEMENTS ARE COMPLETED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE WRITTEN ORDER AND NOTICE OR WITHIN
THE TIME TO WHICH A WRITTEN EXTENSION MAY HAVE BEEN
GRANTED BY THE HEALTH OFFICER OR [[BUILDING

INSPECTORS,]] HIS AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE, THE

OWNER, OCCUPANT, AGENT OR ANY OTHER PERSON IN CUSTODY
OF THE FOOD BUSINESS STRUCTURE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY
OF AN OFFENSE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUB-TITLE.

[[3]] 12.707 INSPECTIONS OF RAT-PROOF MEASURES

THE HEALTH OFFICER [[AND BUILDING INSPECTOR]] OR
HIS AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE ARE AUTHORIZED TO MAKE
INSPECTIONS DURING THE COURSE OF AND UPON COMPLETION
OF ANY CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR, REMODELING OR
INSTALLATION OF RAT CONTROL MEASURES TO FOOD BUSINESS
STRUCTURES TO INSURE COMPLIANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF
THIS SUB-TITLE.

[[3]] 12.708 PENALTY

ANY PERSONS, FIRM OR CORPORATION THAT SHALL
VIOLATE ANY PROVISION OR PROVISIONS OF THIS SUB-TITLE
SHALL BE GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR UPON CONVICTION AND
SHALL BE PUNISHED BY A FINE NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED
DOLLARS ($200.00) AND BY IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT MORE
THAN THIRTY (30) DAYS, EACH DAY OF VIOLATION
CONSTITUTING A SEPARATE OFFENSE.

[[3]] 12.709 COMPLAINTS

ANY BUILDING INSPECTOR, THE HEALTH OFFICER LIQUOR
INSPECTOR, OR HIS AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE OR ANY
OTHER PERSON HAY MAKE A COMPLAINT TO THE BOARD OF
