Sec. 7.110 - Other employees.

(a)   In addition to the Chief clerk, there
shall be one (1) assistant clerk of the People's
Court who shall receive an annual salary of not
less than thirty—six hundred dollars ($3,600),
one constable who shall receive an annual salary
of not less than twelve hundred dollars ($1,200) ,
and such additional employees as the Chief Judge
may from time to time deem necessary, who shall
receive such salaries as are provided in the
annual county budget. The Chief Clerk with
approval of the Chief Judge, shall make the
appointments to all such positions and shall
supervise and direct the work thereof. The
County Council shall set the salaries of
employees mentioned in this subsection.

(b)  The Chief Judge shall appoint a full
time bailiff who shall receive an annual salary
of not less than twenty-four hundred dollars
($2,400), to be set by the County Council.

Sec. 7.111 — Right of removal to other judge.

Any defendant, or his agent, or his
attorney, who shall make suggestion in writing,
upon oath, that he does not believe such
defendant can have a fair and impartial trial in
any case pending for trial before a Judge, shall
have the right at any time before trial, upon
making said written suggestion and oath to the
Judge before whom the case is pending for trial,
to have the pending case removed for trial to the
other Judge; the said Judge shall forthwith
transfer all papers and a record of his
proceedings in the case to the other Judge for
disposition.

Sec. 7.112 — Prior law continued.

The laws which have been enacted previously
concerning the right of appeal from justices of
the peace and justices of the peace designated as
trial magistrates in Howard County shall continue
in all respects to be effective as the People's
Court of Howard County herein created.
