COUNTY LOCAL LAWS

1-206, 1-212 (a) (2) and (3) and 1-213 (a) of the Anne
Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and Supplements),
Title 1, "Administration", Subtitle 2, "Personnel",
Article II, "Classified Service", be, and they are
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

Section 1-201

For the purposes of this article, the following
words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively
ascribed to them by this section:

(1)   Annual leave. Paid leave that is granted to
each eligible employee for religious holiday leave,
vacation, and other personal uses.

(2)   Compensatory time. Time off in lieu of
monetary payment for overtime work.

(3)    DISABILITY LEAVE. PAID LEAVE   THAT HAY BE
GRANTED TO AN ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEE WHO IS     UNABLE TO
PURSUE THE DUTIES OF HIS POSITION BECAUSE   OF PHYSICAL
OR MENTAL IMPAIRMENT.

(4)   Emergency appointment. An appointment made
when an emergency arises and time will not permit
compliance with the appointment procedures contained
in the Charter. No such emergency appointment shall
continue for a period exceeding four months and no
such emergency employee shall have status in the
classified service.

(5)   Holiday leave. Leave pay which is granted
to eligible employees on full—day or part day official
holidays.

(6)   Overtime. Time worked by employee in excess
of his normal working hours.

(7)    Overtime pay. Compensation paid employees
for overtime work.

[Sick leave. Paid leave that may be granted to
each eligible employee who through sickness or injury
becomes incapacitated to a degree that makes it
impossible for him to perform the duties of his
position.]
