PERMITTED IN SWIMMING POOLS WHICH, UNDER ANY
CONDITIONS, WILL ALLOW SEWAGE OR OTHER POLLUTED WATER
TO ENTER THE POOL OR THE RECIRCULATION SYSTEM
DIRECTLY, OR UNDER WHICH WATER FROM THE RECIRCULATION
SYSTEM OR POOL CAN ENTER THE WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM FROM
WHICH THE MAKE-UP WATER SUPPLY IS TAKEN. ALL POOL
DRAINS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH AN ADEQUATE AIR-GAP
PROPERLY LOCATED TO PREVENT ANY SEWAGE OR OTHER
POLLUTED WATER FROM ENTERING THE POOL. ALL BACKWASH
FROM POOL FILTERS MUST BE DISCHARGED INTO APPROVED
SANITARY DISPOSAL SYSTEMS UNLESS DISCHARGE IS LESS
THAN FIVE (5) GALLONS. SEE SECTION 900.17."

REFERENCE IS A BOOK TITLED "SWIMMING POOL OPERATION",
12TH EDITION 1971, PUBLISHED BY THE WASHINGTON STATE
PUBLIC HEALTH ASSOCIATION."

ADDED TO THE SEVENTH DRAFT OF THE PROPOSED REVISION OF
THE STATE PLUMBING CODE, TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
(1) "SECTION 201.3.4 FIRE RATING
All thermoplastic pipe penetrating a
fire—rated wall or ceiling shall meet the integrity of
the wall or ceiling, as evidenced by a test report
from a nationally recognized fire testing laboratory
indicating that said pipe will not spread fire or
significant quantities of smoke from one floor to
another during a two (2) hour fire, provided the
material is installed in accordance with the results
of the test."
(2) "Section 401.8 ABS OR PVC PLASTIC DWV
TO OTHER MATERIAL
(a) ABS or PVC DWV joints when
threaded shall use the proper male or female threaded
adapter. Use only approved thread tape or lubricant
seal as Teflon tape, petroleum jelly, or other
approved materials as recommended by the manufacturer.
