RESOLUTION NO. 4 - 1972
A RESOLUTION to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 490 of the
Charter of the Town of Sharptown, as contained in the Wicomico County
Code (1965 Edition), relating to the procedure for determining assessments,
and the re-enactment serves only to make it comply with the presently
applicable state laws relating to assessments.
SECTION I. BE IT RESOLVED, ENACTED AND ORDAINED BY THE
COMMISSIONERS OF SHARPTOWN. MARYLAND, by virtue of the
authority granted in Article 11E of the Constitution of Maryland, and Section 13
of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, Title
"Corporations-Municipal" Sub-title "Home-Rule", that Section 490 of the Charter
of the Town of Sharptown be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments to read as follows:
490. Assessments - All property located in the Town of Sharptown; and all
property owned by residents of said town, or by corporations having their
principal office therein, and which by the laws of the State of Maryland may
be taxed by said town; shall be taxed for the purposes and expenses of said
town. The Commissioners shall record the assessments of all such property
subject to Town taxation, as it shall appear on the records of the appropriate
state or county assessing authority, in a book or books to be kept for this
purpose; and they shall make a pro rata assessment of any real property
which is located partly within and partly without the limits of the town.
SECTION II. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ENACTED AND
ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSIONERS OF SHARPTOWN, MARYLAND,
THAT this Charter Amendment shall take effect fifty (50) days from the date of
final passage hereof.
