AN ACT to to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 81 (a) of Article 56
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume), title
"Licenses," subtitle "Private Detectives," to provide [[that the fee paid to
register certain individual permanent and part-time employees of a licensee
under the private detective law shall not be refunded once the application has
been submitted and the investigation begun; and to provide for a minimum age
for certain employees of such a licensee]] that certain individual, permanent
and part-time employees, acting as a. detective, of a licensee shall be registered
and pay an application fee of twenty-five dollars.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 81(a) of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume), title "Licenses," subtitle "Private
Detectives," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
81.
(a) The holder of any license issued under the provisions of this subtitle may
employ to assist him in his work and in the conduct of his business as many
persons as he may deem necessary, and he shall at all times during such
employment be accountable for the good conduct in the business of each and every
person so employed. Each individual permanent and [semipermanent]
PART-TIME employee of a licensee under § 78 I (herein, acting as detective, shall
be registered at a fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) each, WHICH FEE SHALL
NOT BE REFUNDED ONCE THE APPLICATION HAS BEEN
SUBMITTED AND THE INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED]] OF
THIS SUBTITLE, ACTING AS. A DETECTIVE, SHALL BE REGISTERED
AND PAY AN APPLICATION FEE OF TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($25.00):
but each individual detective employee required to be registered may be registered
and identified by fingerprint and number instead of by name; but no such
registration shall be required for an employee acting as a guard or watchman or in
any capacity other than as a detective. The employer shall be responsible for the
actions and conduct of all employees in connection with such employer's business.
[[THE MINIMUM AGE FOR ANY INDIVIDUAL PERMANENT OR
PART-TIME EMPLOYEE OF A LICENSEE UNDER § 78 HEREIN,
EXCEPT FOR A CLERICAL EMPLOYEE, SHALL BE TWENTY-ONE (21)
YEARS.]]
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
