CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 44-72-1
RESOLUTION of The Commissioners of Cambridge adopted pursuant to the
authority of Article 11E of the Constitution of Maryland and Section 13 of Article
23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 edition, as amended), titled
"Corporation - Municipal," to amend the Charter of The Commissioners of
of Cambridge by enacting subsection (h) entitled "Corporate Personal Property
Tax Discount Interest" of Section 70 entitled "Taxes" of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Dorchester County (1961 edition), said Code being Article 10 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland entitled "Dorchester County" subtitle
"Cambridge," providing for the discount of personal property taxes of
corporations upon prompt payment and interest thereon for delinquence.
SECTION 1. BE IT RESOLVED by The Commissioners of Cambridge that
the Charter of said Municipal Corporation be, and the same is hereby amended by
enacting said subsection (h) of Section 70 to read as follows:
70. TAXES
(H) CORPORATE PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX DISCOUNT
INTEREST. UPON RECEIPT OF THE CERTIFICATION OF
ASSESSMENT OF PERSONAL PROPERTY BELONGING TO
CORPORATIONS, THE CLERK-TREASURER AND COLLECTOR SHALL
PREPARE A TAX BILL FOR SAID CORPORATION AND PROMPTLY
FORWARD SAME BY PREPAID MAIL. EVERY CORPORATION WHO
SHALL PAY ITS TAXES WITHIN 30 DAYS AFTER THE DATE OF
MAILING THE TAX BILL SHALL BE ALLOWED A DISCOUNT OF
THREE PER CENT THEREON AND THIS DISCOUNT SHALL BE
ALLOWED TO THE CLERK-TREASURER AND COLLECTOR IN HIS
SETTLEMENT WITH THE COMMISSIONERS OF CAMBRIDGE. IN THE
EVENT SAID TAXES ARE NOT PAID WITHIN SIX MONTHS FROM
THE DATE OF MAILING SAID TAX BILL, INTEREST AT THE RATE OF
SIX PER CENT SHALL BE CHARGED FROM THE DATE OF MAILING
SAID TAX BILL TO THE DATE OF PAYMENT AND THE AMOUNT OF
SAID INTEREST SHALL BE ADDED TO AND MADE PART OF SAID
TAX.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall become
effective March 15, 1972.
ORDAINED AND PASSED by The Commissioners of Cambridge this 24th
day of January, 1972.
