THE COMMISSIONERS OF ABERDEEN
A Resolution of the Commissioners of Aberdeen, adopted pursuant to the
authority of Article XI E of the Constitution of Maryland and of Article 23 A of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume of the 1957 Edition and
Amendments thereto), title "Corporations - Municipal," to amend the Charter of The
Commissioners of Aberdeen by repealing and re-enacting Section 5 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Harford County (1965 Edition. 1971 Supplement and
Amendments thereto), title "Harford County," subtitle "Aberdeen," changing the
minimum age to qualify as a voter of the town and the minimum age to be eligible to
vote at any or all town elections from twenty-one to eighteen years of age and
correcting the title of the Board of Supervisors of Elections.
SECTION 1. BE IT RESOLVED, ORDAINED and ENACTED by the
Commissioners of Aberdeen, by authority of Article XI E of the Constitution of
Maryland and of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966
Replacement Volume of the 1957 Edition and Amendments thereto) that Section 5
of the Code of the Public Local Laws of Harford County (1965 Edition, 1971
Supplement and Amendments thereto), title "Harford County," subtitle
"Aberdeen," be and the same hereby is repealed and re-enacted with amendments,
to read as follows:
5. Voters at town elections.
Every person who (1) is a citizen of the United States, (2) is at least
[twenty-one] EIGHTEEN years of age, (3) has resided within the corporate limits
of the town for eighteen months next preceding any town election, (4) is a duly
registered voter on the registration books of the Supervisors of Elections of
Harford County, and (5) is registered with the Board of SUPERVISORS OF
Elections in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the Town of
Aberdeen shall be a qualified voter of the town and eligible to vote at any or all
town elections.
SECTION 2. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ORDAINED and ENACTED,
that the date of adoption of this Resolution is April 10, 1972, and that the
amendments to the Charter of The Commissioners of Aberdeen hereby resolved,
ordained and enacted shall become and be considered a part of the municipal
charter, according to the terms of the amendments, in all respects to be effective
and observed as such upon the fiftieth day after being so resolved, ordained and
enacted (May 30, 1972), unless on or before the fortieth day after being so
resolved, ordained and enacted (May 20, 1972) there shall be presented to the
Commissioners of Aberdeen, or mailed to them by registered mail, a proper
petition for a referendum hereon as permitted by law, provided a complete and
