1784                                     LAWS OF MARYLAND                                 Ch. 879

792.

(c) The provisions of this subtitle do not apply to:

(1) The activities, services and use of an official title by a person in the
employ of a federal [, State, or local] government agency, [including] THE
STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION OR a public school system in one of
the counties or in Baltimore City, or a State-approved nonpublic school for
handicapped children, or a chartered educational institution insofar as such services
are part of the duties of his office or position with the agency or institution.
However, an individual in this employ may elect to be subject to this subtitle by
applying for a license hereunder. An individual is not exempt from this subtitle
who does work as a speech and language pathologist or audiologist for which a fee
may be paid directly or indirectly by the recipient of the service.

795.

(a) Upon payment of the fee, the Board shall register each applicant who
satisfactorily passes the registration requirements. Thereupon the Board shall issue
to the applicant a certificate of registration for audiology or speech pathology. The
certificate of registration shall be effective for [two years] ONE YEAR.

796.

(a)   An applicant who fulfills ALL OF the requirements of § 793 EXCEPT
THOSE REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO EXPERIENCE, AS SET FORTH
IN SUBSECTIONS (A)(5) AND (A)(6) OF SECTION 793, and who has not
previously applied to take the examination provided under § 794 may apply to the
Board for a temporary certificate of registration.

798.

A person who practices audiology or speech pathology shall [biennially]
ANNUALLY pay to the Board a fee in an amount established by the Board for a
renewal of his certificate of registration or certificate of endorsement. A thirty-day
grace period shall be allowed after expiration of a certificate during which
certificate may be renewed on payment of a fee in an amount established by the
Board. The Board may suspend the certificate of any person who fails to renew his
certificate before the expiration of the thirty-day grace period. After the expiration
of the grace period, the Board may renew such a certificate upon the payment of a
fee in an amount established by the Board. No person who applies for renewal,
whose certificate was suspended for failure to renew, shall be required to submit to
any examination as a condition of renewal.

805.

[(a) Fees established by the boards shall be sufficient to allow the boards to
remain self-sustaining, and any surplus of funds received in any fiscal year shall be
paid over into the general funds of the State.

(b)  All expenses incurred by the boards in the administration of the provisions
of this subtitle shall be paid therefor upon warrants of the Comptroller, when
vouchers therefor are exhibited after approval by the boards.

(c)  Moneys received by the boards in the administration of this subtitle shall be
accounted for to the State Comptroller and deposited in the State Treasury into
separate trust funds for the boards.

(d)  All salaries and expenses shall be paid as budgeted after budgets have been
approved by the Board of Public Works or within the limitations of any
appropriation for that purpose which may be included in the General
Appropriations Act.]
