HIMSELF AS ENGAGED IN THE PRACTICE OF VETERINARY
MEDICINE.
(C) A VETERINARY PRACTITIONER IS A LICENSED AND
REGISTERED VETERINARIAN ENGAGED IN THE PRACTICE OF
VETERINARY MEDICINE AS DEFINED IN SUBSECTION (B) HEREIN.
[(c)] (d) The word "Board" as used in this subtitle, means the State Board of
Veterinary Medical Examiners.
[(d)] (e) "Temporary permit" means a temporary permit to practice veterinary
medicine, issued pursuant to § 152B of this subtitle.
[(e)] (f) "Direct supervision" means that a VETERINARIAN licensed AND
REGISTERED [graduate veterinarian] in the State of Maryland shall be in the
immediate vicinity of the premises wherein, or whereon, the act of VETERINARY
MEDICINE IS BEING PERFORMED AND BE ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN
THE SUPERVISION OF THE PRACTICE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE.

152.
(a) The State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners shall have THE
EXCLUSIVE power to establish and alter, from time to time, the standards of
preliminary and professional education and training requirements for applicants for
examinations for license to practice veterinary medicine;
(b) To investigate and determine acceptability and to approve and disapprove
colleges and institutions for the education and training of students desiring to [be
licensed to] practice veterinary medicine, and to cancel or revoke [such] approvals
where [such] colleges and institutions no longer are deemed satisfactory; [provided
that] the approval of [such] A college or institution by the American Veterinary
Medical Association [shall be deemed] IS sufficient to qualify [such] A college or
institution; [and further provided, that any student] ANY VETERINARIAN
desiring to be [so] licensed shall have completed the course of study prescribed by
[any such] AN APPROVED college or institution;
(c) To adopt and promulgate reasonable rules and regulations to make effective
the provisions of this subtitle [;]. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OR THEIR
DESIGNATED INSPECTORS ARE AUTHORIZED TO ENTER AT
REASONABLE HOURS, PREMISES OF VETERINARY FACILITIES TO
ENABLE ENFORCEMENT OF RULES AND REGULATIONS
PROMULGATED BY THE BOARD;
(d) To prescribe the subject, character, manner, time and place of holding
examinations, and the filing of applications for examinations, [and] to conduct
WRITTEN examinations IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE IDENTITY OF
THE APPLICANT SHALL NOT BE KNOWN TO THE BOARD UNTIL THE
EXAMINATION HAS BEEN GRADED, and make written reports of such
examinations which shall be preserved in the office of the Board for a period of
three years;
(e) To issue a license to, AND THEREAFTER TO ANNUALLY REGISTER
TO practice veterinary medicine [[to]] any applicant who passes the examination,
who [[is a citizen of the United States,]] is of good moral character, and has a
diploma from an approved college or institution conferring upon him the degree of
doctor of veterinary medicine;
