Ch. 674 MARVIN MANDEL, Governor 1409
(1) THE EXAMINATION REFERRED TO IN THIS SUBSECTION
SHALL COVER SUCH SUBJECTS AND BE GRADED ON SUCH BASIS
AS THE BOARD SHALL DECIDE. THE BOARD MAY ADOPT THE
EXAMINATIONS AND RECOMMENDED GRADING PROCEDURES OF
THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF ARCHITECTURAL REGISTRATION
BOARDS.
(c)(l) An applicant for registration as an architect in this State who has
previously been registered in any other state or [[ [ [ ]] in the District of Columbia
or in any foreign country [[ ] ]] [[JURISDICTION]] and who is in good
standing [[ [ ]] in the other jurisdiction [[ ] ]] at the time he files an application
in this State may [, ] be registered in this State without examination upon payment
of all fees required by the Board, if an applicant establishes to the satisfaction of
the Board that the jurisdiction in which he is registered has registration
requirements at the time the applicant became registered at least equivalent to the
requirements in this State and that he has complied with these requirements.
(2) AN APPLICANT FOR REGISTRATION AS AN ARCHITECT IN
THIS STATE WHO HOLDS A NATIONAL COUNCIL OF
ARCHITECTURAL REGISTRATION BOARDS CERTIFICATE AT THE
TIME HE FILES AN APPLICATION IN THIS STATE MAY BE
REGISTERED IN THIS STATE WITHOUT EXAMINATION UPON
FILING PROPER APPLICATION, PAYMENT OF ALL FEES REQUIRED
BY THE BOARD AND RECEIPT FROM THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF
ARCHITECTURAL REGISTRATION BOARDS A CERTIFIED COPY OF
THE APPLICANT'S COUNCIL CERTIFICATE.
(D) THE BOARD MAY ADOPT ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION
GUIDELINES AS MAY BE PUBLISHED FROM TIME TO TIME BY THE
NATIONAL COUNCIL OF ARCHITECTURAL REGISTRATION BOARDS.
520.
The following persons are not required to be registered as architects in
accordance with the provisions of this subtitle.
(1) Professional engineers licensed by the Maryland State Board of Registration
for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors who perform architectural services
which are purely incidental to the practice of engineering and not in conflict with
the basic definition of the practice of architecture in Section 516[(d)](E); but no
such engineer shall use the designation "architect" unless licensed in accordance
with the provisions of this subtitle.
(2) Professional landscape architects [who are engaged in the preparation of
drawings for, and the supervision of, planting, grading, walks, paving and such
minor structures, normally included as part of their work] REGISTERED BY
THE MARYLAND STATE BOARD OF EXAMINERS OF LANDSCAPE
ARCHITECTS WHO PERFORM ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES WHICH
ARE PURELY INCIDENTAL TO THE PRACTICE OF LANDSCAPE
ARCHITECTURE AND NOT IN CONFLICT WITH THE BASIC
DEFINITION OF ARCHITECTURE IN SECTION 516(E); BUT NO SUCH
PERSONS SHALL USE THE DESIGNATION "ARCHITECT" UNLESS
LICENSED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
SUBTITLE.
(3) Real Estate Brokers, dealers and agents in making of the appraisals of
properties and the selection of sites, BUT NO SUCH PERSON SHALL USE
THE DESIGNATION "ARCHITECT" UNLESS LICENSED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE.
