civil, mechanical, electrical engineers and other consultants in connection with the
[[DESIGN AND]] construction of any building or integral part or parts thereof
or any addition or alteration thereto.

518.

(b) The Board may appoint, discharge at pleasure, and fix the compensation of
the secretary and such clerical force as from time to time in its judgment may be
necessary in the administration of this subtitle if it has funds available for the
payment of such persons, and may require any such employee to be covered by a
surety bond in accordance with the provisions of Sections 46 through 50 of Article
78A of this Code. The Board may lease, equip and maintain appropriate office
facilities required for its activities UNLESS OTHERWISE PROVIDED BY THE
STATE.

519.

(a)   An applicant for registration as an architect in this State by written
examination:

(1)  Shall have been a resident of the State of Maryland for at least six (6)
[[CONSECTUIVE]] CONSECUTIVE months at the time of his application
AND AT THE TIME OF EXAMINATION. THE BOARD MAY WAIVE THE
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT IN ANY CASE WHERE THE BOARD
DEEMS IT NECESSARY AND PROPER.

(2)   Shall file a written application to the Board in the form and manner
required by the Board.

(3)  Shall pay all fees required by the Board.

(4)  Shall establish to the satisfaction of the Board that he is a person of good
moral character.

[(5) Shall have had four years of high school education or its equivalent.]

(5)  SHALL EITHER HOLD A DEGREE IN ARCHITECTURE FROM
AN ARCHITECTURAL SCHOOL IN THE UNITED STATES
ACCREDITED WITHIN TWO YEARS OF THE APPLICANT'S
GRADUATION THEREFROM BY THE NATIONAL ARCHITECTURAL
ACCREDITING BOARD OR SHALL HOLD A DEGREE IN
ARCHITECTURE FROM A FOREIGN ARCHITECTURAL SCHOOL
JUDGED BY THE BOARD TO BE COMPARABLE TO AN ACCREDITED
SCHOOL IN THE UNITED STATES AND SHALL HAVE HAD SUCH
PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE INCLUDING ACADEMIC TRAINING AS
THE BOARD SHALL DEEM APPROPRIATE. IN LIEU OF THE
REQUIREMENT OF A PROFESSIONAL DEGREE FROM AN
ACCREDITED SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE, THE BOARD MAY
ADMIT AN APPLICANT TO TAKE THE EXAMINATION FOR
REGISTRATION WHO HAS HAD SUCH ADDITIONAL PRACTICAL
EXPERIENCE INCLUDING ACADEMIC TRAINING, AS THE BOARD
SHALL DEEM APPROPRIATE. THE BOARD MAY FURTHER REQUIRE
THE NON-PROFESSIONAL DEGREE APPLICANT TO PASS A
QUALIFYING EXAMINATION.

(b)   All applicants meeting the qualification of subsection (a) may take the
examination given by the Board, and those who successfully complete such
examination shall be registered by the Board.
