statement of the fund setting forth the balance thereof as of the beginning of the
preceding year, the income therefrom, and the sources thereof, the payments from
the fund in itemized form, and the balance on hand as of the preceding December
31. Such statement shall be published by the Commission and be open to public
inspection in its office at all reasonable times. The Treasurer shall advise the
Commission at least quarterly, and oftener if requested, as to the amount of the
fund in his hands.

67.

(6)   "Injury," "personal injury," "accidental injury" and" accidental personal
injury" means only accidental injuries arising out of and in the course of
employment and such [occupational] disease or infection as may naturally result
therefrom, including frostbite and sunstroke resulting from weather condition,
OCCUPATIONAL DISEASE and includes an injury caused by the wilful or
negligent act of a third person directed against an employee in the course of his
employment.

(7)  "Death" when mentioned as a basis for the right to compensation means
only death resulting from such injury OR OCCUPATIONAL DISEASE.

(10) The term "child" and "children" shall include posthumous children, land
adopted children, whether members of the deceased employee's household at the
time of his accident or death or not, and shall also include stepchildren,
illegitimate children and other children, if such stepchildren, illegitimate children
and other children were members of the household of the decedent at the time of
the accident or death and had received contributions toward their support from
such deceased employee during any part of the six months immediately preceding
the accident or death] ADOPTED CHILDREN, STEPCHILDREN,
ILLEGITIMATE CHILDREN AND OTHER CHILDREN.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall not
apply to accidental injuries sustained or occupational diseases incurred prior to
July 1, 1973.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 672
(Senate Bill 281)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 18(h) of Article 64A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume), title "Merit
System," to change references to certain classified State Roads Commission
personnel and applicants to reflect the fact that the personnel may be of either
sex.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 18(h) of Article 64A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume), title "Merit System," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
