CHAPTER 638
(House Bill 1445)
AN ACT to add new Section 218 of the Code of Public Local Laws of St. Mary's
County (1965 Edition, as amended, being Article 19 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), to follow immediately after Section 217 thereof and to be
under the new title "Cable Television"; and to allow the County Commissioners
of St. Mary's County to [[franchise and]] tax the business of providing cable
television in that county.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 218 of the Code of Public Local Laws of St.
Mary's County (1965 Edition, as amended, being Article 19 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland), to follow immediately after Section 217 thereof and to
be under the new title "Cable Television," be and is hereby added and to read as
follows:

THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ST. MARY'S COUNTY SHALL
HAVE THE RIGHT TO [[FRANCHISE AND]] TAX THE BUSINESS OF
CABLE TELEVISION IN ST. MARY'S COUNTY.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

(House Bill 1453)
AN ACT to repeal subsection (e) of Section 145 of Article 26 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1971 Cumulative
Supplement), title "Courts," subtitle "District Courts," and to add new
subsection (h) to Section 22 of Article 59 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1972 Replacement Volume), title "Mental Hygiene," subtitle "Emergency
Admissions," to follow immediately after subsection (g) thereof, for the purpose
of relocating certain provisions of the Code relating to the powers of a District
Court Judge.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That subsection (e) of Section 145 of Article 26 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1971 Cumulative Supplement),
title "Courts," subtitle "District Courts," is hereby repealed.
