STATEMENT TO THE EMPLOYEE FOR THAT AMOUNT, THAT
COMPUTATION TO BE BASED UPON THE COMPENSATION
ACTUALLY RECEIVED BY THE EMPLOYEE FROM THE MARYLAND
TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATION DURING THE PERIOD FOR WHICH
SERVICE IS TO BE CREDITED.
ANY SUCH MEMBER WHO RECEIVED MEMBERSHIP SERVICE
CREDIT FOR SERVICE RENDERED TO THE STATE OR TO THE
MARYLAND TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATION UNDER THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBSECTION SHALL PAY TO THE
RETIREMENT SYSTEM BY A SINGLE PAYMENT, WITHIN WHATEVER
PERIOD OF TIME AS MAY BE DETERMINED BY THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES, THE CONTRIBUTIONS WITH INTEREST WHICH THE
BOARD OF TRUSTEES DETERMINES IS DUE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to add new Sections 717A through 717F to Article 43 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health," to follow
immediately after Section 717 thereof, and to be under the new subtitle
"Day-Care for the Elderly," to provide for the establishment, regulation,
purchase, and funding of day care centers and services for the elderly by the
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Employment
and Social Services, with the advice of the Maryland Commission on Aping.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Sections 717A through 717F be and they are hereby
added to Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement
Volume), title "Health," to follow immediately after Section 717 thereof, and to be
under the new subtitle "Day-Care for the Elderly," and all to read as follows:
DAY-CARE FOR THE ELDERLY
717A.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS SUBTITLE IS: (1) TO PROVIDE FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF DAY-CARE CENTERS AND SERVICES IN THE
STATE FOR THE ELDERLY THAT WILL GIVE MANY ELDERLY
PERSONS THE CHANCE TO REMAIN WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND IN
THEIR COMMUNITIES, RATHER THAN BEING PLACED IN NURSING
HOMES OR STATE INSTITUTIONS; (2) TO ALLOW FAMILIES TO KEEP
THEIR ELDERLY PARENTS AND RELATIVES WITH THEM, INSTEAD
OF HAVING TO PLACE THEM IN IMPERSONAL INSTITUTIONS; AND
(3) TO ALLOW THE STATE OF MARYLAND TO DEAL MORE
EFFECTIVELY AND ECONOMICALLY WITH THE NEEDS OF ITS
