(6)   GENERAL LEGACY TO SURVIVING SPOUSE OF TESTATOR;

(7)  [(4)] Specific and demonstrative legacies.

Abatement within each classification is in proportion to the amounts of property
each of the legatees (or heirs) would have received, had full distribution of the
property been made in accordance with the terms of the will.

(C) "LEGACY" OR "LEGACIES" AS USED IN THIS SECTION SHALL
NOT INCLUDE ANY ASSETS PASSING BY THE DECEDENT'S
EXERCISE OF A TESTAMENTARY POWER OF APPOINTMENT.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973 . and shall apply to estates of decedents dying on or after July
1, 1973.

CHAPTER 536
(House Bill 370)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 324 of Article 43 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health,"
subtitle "State Board of Barber Examiners," to amend the penalty provisions
under the laws relating to the State Board of Barber Examiners.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 324 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle "State Board of
Barber Examiners," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

324.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this subtitle shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not
[less than ten dollars] MORE THAN FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00)
or imprisonment (in the county jail] for a period of not more than [thirty days]
NINETY DAYS or by both such fine and imprisonment.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
