CHAPTER 511
(House Bill 143)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 141(a) of Article 56 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume), title "Licenses,"
subtitle "Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax," to provide that licensees under the motor
vehicle fuel tax law may file certain [[municipal]] federal. State, or local
government bonds as security in lieu of surety bonds and to correct an error
therein.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 141 (a) of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume), title "Licenses," subtitle "Motor Vehicle
Fuel Tax," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
141.
(a) Every bond required to be filed by this subtitle shall be filed with the
Comptroller in such amount as the Comptroller shall by regulation prescribe
provided that in no case shall bond be less than one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars.
Such bond shall be in such form as may be approved by the Comptroller, shall be
executed by some surety company duly licensed to do business under the laws of
the State of [[Mryland]] MARYLAND, and be conditioned upon the prompt
filing of true reports and the payment by the licensee to the Comptroller of any
and all motor fuel taxes which are now or which hereafter may be levied or
imposed by the State of Maryland, together with any and all penalties and interest
thereon, and generally upon faithful compliance with the provisions of this subtitle.
BONDS OF THE UNITED STATES, THE STATE OF MARYLAND, THE
CITY OF BALTIMORE, OR ANY COUNTY OR MUNICIPAL
CORPORATION IN THIS STATE MAY BE FILED IN LIEU OF THE
SURETY BOND AS REQUIRED IN THIS SECTION.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to repeal Section 139-1/2 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments,"
subtitle "I Crimes and Punishments," subheading "Payment of Counsel Fees,"
and to repeal the subheading "Payment of Counsel Fees," to repeal an obsolete
provision of law relating to payment of counsel fees to an attorney appointed to
defend an indigent person charged with committing a crime while incarcerated
in a State institution.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 139-1/2 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle
