SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED BY THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That any resident of Maryland, who for more
than one year prior to July 1, 1973, has actively engaged in the occupation of a
cosmetician may, within six months file an application requesting licensure with
the State Board of Cosmetologists setting forth his or her name, place of business,
post office address, and the length of time he or she has been engaged in such
occupation. After approval by the Board, the applicant shall pay a licensure fee of
five dollars and such license shall be issued without examination.

SECTION [[2]] 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 495
(Senate Bill 1190)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 208D (a) of Article 41
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title
"Governor-Executive and Administrative Departments," subtitle "10. The
Department of Transportation," to provide compensation for certain members
of the Maryland Transportation Commission and amending the provisions
concerning reimbursement for expenses.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 208D(a) of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Governor-Executive and
Administrative Departments," subtitle "10. The Department of Transportation," is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

208D.

(a) The Maryland Transportation Commission is hereby created as part of the
Department of Transportation, and it shall consist of seventeen members. The
seven members of the State Roads Commission appointed from particular regions
of the State shall be members of the Maryland Transportation Commission ex
officio. The remaining ten members of the Maryland Transportation Commission
shall be appointed by the Governor with the advice of the Secretary of
Transportation. Of the members initially appointed, three shall be for terms of
three years, four for terms of two years, and three for terms of one year.
Thereafter, all appointments shall be for terms of three years. The Governor shall
designate a chairman from among the appointed members. The Governor shall fill
any vacancy which occurs before the expiration of a term, for the balance of the
term so remaining. Members of the Maryland Transportation Commission shall
receive [no] PER DIEM compensation for service on the Commission [but] AND
shall be reimbursed for actual expenses AS PROVIDED FOR IN THE
BUDGET.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
