for underground storage of gas, geological strata owned by any public body and
lying not less than 800 feet below the surface of land in Prince George"s County,
which right every such public body is hereby authorized to grant for [such] THE
consideration [as may be] agreed upon with such gas storage company. In the
event [such] A gas storage company and [such] A public body cannot agree upon
[such] THE consideration, or if there is no public authority other than the
General Assembly which has power to enter into such agreement, then [such]
THE gas storage company may acquire such right by eminent domain, in the
manner provided in [Article 33A of the Public General Laws of Maryland]
TITLE 12 OF ARTICLE 21 OF THIS CODE for the taking by eminent domain
of private property for a public use, the provisions of which article are hereby
made applicable in any such case. In any such case in which the State of Maryland
shall be made a party, service of process may be had upon the Attorney General.

Article 77.

51.

When land [shall be] IS required for the site of a school or for enlarging a
school site, for playgrounds, or for other school purposes, and the county board of
education [shall] IS for any cause [be] unable to contract with the owner or
owners thereof upon what they deem to be a fair valuation thereof, the county
board of education may institute proceedings for the acquisition of such lands, in
accordance with [Article 33A of the Annotated] TITLE 12 OF ARTICLE 21 OF
THIS Code and the Maryland Rules of Procedure. The county board of education
may request the assistance of the county commissioners or county council in
instituting condemnation proceedings.

Article 78A.
9A.

The Board of Public Works may condemn property to be acquired for State
use, except that which is in connection with State roads, bridges, and highways.
[Such 1 THE POWER OF condemnation is subject to the provisions of [Article
33A of the Annotated] TITLE 12 OF ARTICLE 21 OF THIS Code [of
Maryland].

14A.

The Board of Public Works may acquire part or all of the property and
premises known generally as Carvel Hall Hotel, between Prince George Street and
King George Street in the City of Annapolis, and all of the older portion of the
improvements on the property, fronting on Prince George Street and known
generally as the Paca House, may be included in any such acquisition. The
acquisition may be by purchase, gift, or condemnation under the procedures in
[Article 33A] TITLE 12 OF ARTICLE 21 of this Code, with any funds available
for this purpose from time to time. Any portion or portions of the property
acquired from time to time shall be devoted, under the control of the Board of
Public Works or some other agency deemed by it as suitable under the
circumstances, to some public, governmental, artistic, historic, cultural, or civic use
or program.

Pursuant to the terms of § 181-I of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1964 Cumulative Supplement), the Board of Public Works is authorized
to select the Maryland Historical Trust as the agency designated to control and
operate Carvel Hall Hotel and/or the Paca House and for such purposes the title
