judges be provided for in the State budget; to provide that the
provisions of Article 64A, Section 27, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland shall be applicable to the salaries of said judges WITH
A CERTAIN EXCEPTION; to set forth a procedure, with certain
limitations, by which judges shall automatically receive salary in-
creases when there is a general salary increase for State em-
ployees; to prohibit local government supplementation of judges
salaries; TO ESTABLISH A PROCEDURE FOR REIMBURSE-
MENT OF CERTAIN EXPENSES; and relating generally to the
laws of this State concerning salaries of said judges.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 47 of Article 26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1966 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement), title "Courts,"
subtitle "Salaries and Judges," be and it is hereby repealed and that
new Section 47 be and it is hereby enacted, in lieu thereof, to stand
in the place of the section so repealed; and that Section 144(a)
of Article 26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement
Volume and 1971 Supplement), title "Courts," subtitle "District
Courts," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments; and all to read as follows:

(a) Judges of Court of Appeals.—Until June 30, 1969, the salary
of the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals is thirty-three thousand
dollars ($33,000) per annum; the salary of each of the associate
judges of the Court of Appeals is thirty-two thousand five hundred
dollars ($32,500) per annum. After July 1, 1967, no supplementation
shall be allowed of the salaries of any of such judges. From and
after July 1, 1971, the salary of the Chief Judge of the Court of
Appeals is forty-one thousand dollars ($41,000) per annum, and the
salary of each of the associate judges of the Court of Appeals
is forty thousand dollars ($40,000) per annum;
(b) Judges of the Court of Special Appeals.—Until June 30,
1969, the salary of the Chief Judge of the Court of Special Appeals
is twenty-eight thousand dollars ($28,000) per annum, and the salary
of each of the associate judges of the Court of Special Appeals is
twenty-seven thousand five hundred dollars ($27,500) per annum.
After July 1,1967, no supplementation shall be allowed of the salaries
of any of such judges. From and after July 1, 1971, the salary
of the Chief Judge of the Court of Special Appeals is thirty-eight
thousand five hundred dollars ($38,500) per annum and the salary of
each of the associate judges of the Court of Special Appeals is
thirty-seven thousand five hundred dollars ($37,500) per annum.
(c) Circuit judges.—Until June 30, 1969, the salary paid to or
allowed for each of the judges of the several courts of the eight
judicial circuits is twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) per annum.
From and after July 1, 1971, the salary of each of the judges of
the several courts of the eight judicial circuits is thirty-five thou-
sand five hundred dollars ($35,500) per annum.
(c˝) Same—Supplementation of salaries.—Beginning as of June
1, 1968 the salaries paid to any judge of the several courts of the
eight judicial circuits may not be supplemented by any county of
the circuit in which the judge resides or Baltimore City so as to
