CHAPTER 294
(House Bill 593)
AN ACT to add new Section 3A to Article 25 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1971 Supplement), title "County Commissioners"
subtitle "General Provisions," to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 3 thereof to provide that applications for building permits for
construction within a certain distance from a railroad must be
accompanied by a clearance certificate from the Public Service
Commission, to show that the building to be constructed complies
with the requirements relating to construction within a certain
distance of a railroad.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 3A be and it is hereby added to Article 25 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Supplement), title "County
Commissioners," subtitle "General Provisions," to follow immedi-
ately after Section 3 thereof and to read as follows:
3 A.
Any application for a building permit for construction within
twenty-five feet of a railroad EIGHT FEET SIX INCHES LATER-
ALLY FROM THE CENTER LINE OF A RAILROAD TRACK
OR TWENTY-TWO FEET FROM THE TOP OF THE RAIL must
be accompanied by a clearance certificate from the Public Service
Commission to show that the proposed construction complies with
the requirements relating to distance from and height over a rail-
road TRACK.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3 of
Article 96½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Supple-
ment), title "Veterans," subtitle "Relief Fund," adding the de-
partment commander of the Marine Corps League to the advisory
committee of the Maryland Veterans Commission.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3 of Article 96½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Supplement), title "Veterans," subtitle "Relief Fund," be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

The Governor shall appoint a Commission, TO BE KNOWN as the
"Maryland Veterans Commission," to be composed of nine Maryland
