ment), title "Workmen's Compensation," subtitle "Miscellaneous,"
to create a presumption of compensability in certain instances of
certain police officers with respect to Workmen's Compensation
Benefits and making certain provisions for additional benefits
in relation to retirement systems.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 64A of Article 101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Supplement), title "Workmen's Compensation," subtitle "Mis-
cellaneous," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

64A.

Any condition or impairment of health of any paid municipal,
county, airport authority or fire control district fire fighter caused
by lung diseases, heart diseases, or hypertension and any condition
or impairment of health of any paid state, municipal, county or air-
port authority police officer caused by heart diseases or hypertension
resulting in total or partial disability or death shall be presumed to
be compensable under this article and to have been suffered in the
line of duty and as a result of his employment.

Notwithstanding any provision of this article any paid fire
fighter whose compensable claim results from a condition or im-
pairment of health caused by lung diseases, heart diseases or
hypertension and any paid police officer whose compensable claim
results from a condition or impairment of health caused by heart
diseases or hypertension
and has been suffered in the line of duty
shall receive such benefits as are provided for in this article in
addition to such benefits as he may be entitled to under the retire-
ment system in which said fire fighter or police officer was a par-
ticipant at the time of his claim. The benefits received under this
article however, shall be adjusted so that the total of all weekly
benefits shall not exceed one hundred percent of the weekly salary
which was paid to said fire fighter or police officer.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

(House Bill 436)

AN ACT to add new Section 152(d) to Article 11 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supple-
ment), title "Banks and Trust Companies," subtitle "Credit
Unions," to follow immediately after Section 152(c), and to repeal
and re-enact with amendments Section 9 of Article 8 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume), title
"Assignment of Choses in Action," subtitle "Assignment of Wages,"
to provide that payroll deductions LESS THAN CERTAIN
AMOUNTS authorized by certain persons to repay credit union
