(Senate Bill 189)
AN ACT to add new Section 361 to Article 43 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle
"Funeral Directors and Embalmers," to follow immediately after
Section 360 thereof to authorize cremation without a funeral or
burial casket, prohibiting representations to the contrary, and
specifying other particulars as to the use of containers in connec-
tion with cremation.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 361 be and it is hereby added to Article 43 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title
"Health," subtitle "Funeral Directors and Embalmers," to follow
immediately after Section 360 thereof and to read as follows:
361.
Cremation without a burial or funeral casket is specifically author-
ized, though a simple container adequate for the purpose may be
required. Any representation to the contrary by any person licensed
under this subtitle, or his agents, assistants or employees is pro-
hibited. Nothing in this section shall be interpreted to prohibit the
use or consumption of a burial or funeral casket before or after
cremation, or in the course of cremation, if the person making the
funeral arrangements so decides.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 154 (d)
of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Governor—Executive and Administrative
Departments," subtitle "THE EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,"
SUBHEADING "Commissioners for Uniform State Laws," in-
creasing the amount of the annual appropriation authorized from
the State of Maryland to the National Conference of Commis-
sioners on Uniform State Laws.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 154 (d) of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Governor—Executive and
Administrative Departments," subtitle "THE EXECUTIVE DE-
PARTMENT," SUBHEADING "Commissioners for Uniform State
Laws," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
