For bringing, prosecuting or defending any suit or action at

law in any of the courts of this State of original jurisdiction $5.00

For prosecuting or defending any cause, plaint or action, in-
cluding all proceedings to collect money due on mortgage,
in any of the courts of equity in this State............................ 10.00

For prosecuting or defending any cause in any of the orphans'

courts in this State...................................................................... 10.00

For prosecuting or defending any cause in the Court of Appeals 10.00

For prosecuting or defending in any criminal cases in any
of the courts of this State having criminal jurisdiction,
when the punishment for the offense charged is death or
confinement in the penitentiary ............................................ 10.00

In all other criminal cases[, except cases before[ magistrates

or justices of the peace] the District Court............................ 5.00

§ 12. Enumeration—In general.

(a) Law courts.—The clerks of the various law courts of this State
may charge and shall be entitled to receive the fees hereinafter set
forth for the performance of their duties, as follows:

(1)  For issuing writs of process, summons and respondendum, ex-
cept the original writ issued at the time of filing suit $1.00

(2)   For issuing subpoenas for witnesses, for each witness $.50

(3)  For issuing every subpoena duces tecum $.50

(4)  For certified copy of docket entries under seal $2.50, and for
making a certified copy of each block or portion thereof $2.50

(5)  For entering order of satisfaction of judgment on justices'
docket or judgment of the people's court $1.00

(6)  For recording judgments rendered by [justice of the peace or
judges of the people's court] the District Court $2.50

(7)   For entering the original appearance of attorney for the de-
fendant $1.00

(8)   For filing the original defense pleas of any defendant $1.00

(9)  For the attendance of the clerk, or his deputy, in court upon
the hearing of any motion before the court $2.00

(10)  For the renewal of any writ previously issued $1.00

(11)  For issuing any writ of fieri facias on any judgment $5.00

(12)   For issuing any writ of habere facias possessionem $5.00

(13)  For issuing any writ of retorno habendo $4.00

(14)  For issuing any attachment for contempt $4.00

(15)  For issuing a writ of mandamus $4.00

(16)  For continuing case on docket $1.00

(17)   For issuing supplementary proceedings and entering return
thereof $4.00
