(2) The County Executive shall be the appointing Authority for all
of the above positions except the Secretary to the County Council and the
County Auditor. The officers shall serve at the pleasure of the appointing
authority; provided, however, that the County Solicitor appointed by the
County Executive in accordance with the provisions of the Howard County
Charter shall be subject to confirmation by the affirmative vote of a ma-
jority of the members of the Council as elected in 1970, and each four
years thereafter.

Section 2. And be it further enacted by the County Council of Howard
County, Maryland, that this Act shall take effect sixty (60) days after
is enactment.

This Bill, having been approved by the Executive and returned to the
Council, stands enacted on June 4, 1971.

Council Bill No. 18

An Act to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections 1.132
and 1.133 of Title 1 of the Howard County Code, Title "Administra-
tion", subtitle "Personnel" providing for changes in the existing po-
sitions and the minimum qualifications for job classifications in How-
ard County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the County Council of Howard County,
Maryland, That Sections 1.132 and 1.133 of the Howard County Code, be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as
follows:

1.132 Class Titles

The following classes of positions shall be within the classified service:
A. Clerical

1.   General Clerk

2.   Clerk Typist

               3.   Senior Clerk-Typist

4.   Secretary I

5.   Secretary II

6.   Secretary III

7.   Telephone Operator

8.   Senior Telephone Operator
