Resolved, That the Maryland Delegation to the United States Con-
gress be requested to support proposals to establish September 23,
1972, as "National Hunting and Fishing Day."

(House Joint Resolution 92)

House Joint Resolution requesting the County Commissioners of
Allegany County to adjust the salary scales of the deputy sheriffs
of that county through reclassification to bring them into uni-
formity with the salaries of similar employees in other counties.

The deputy sheriffs of Allegany County are members of the Al-
legany County Merit System, and as such are governed by the clas-
sification of that system in relation to their salaries.

At the present time, the classifications for deputy sheriffs in Al-
legany County provide them with annual salaries which are from
$1,000 to $2,000 less than other counties in Maryland of comparable
size.

Also, the present classifications do not take into consideration the
training and experience, as well as length of service, of many of
the present deputy sheriffs.

The lower salary scales create a morale problem, particularly in
light of the present inflated state of our economy; now, therefore,
be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the County
Commissioners of Allegany County are requested to adjust the salary
scales of the deputy sheriffs of Allegany County through reclassi-
fication, to bring them into conformity with salaries of similar em-
ployees in other counties; and, be it further

Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to each of the
members of the Board of County Commissioners of Allegany County.

(Senate Joint Resolution 5)

Joint Resolution requesting the Boards of Trustees of the three
Retirement Systems to have their consulting actuary update his
1964 report of his survey of benefits of the Maryland systems com-
pared with the provisions of systems in other states.

Whereas, The Board of Trustees of the Teachers' Retirement
