necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the treasury
not otherwise appropriated, for the payment of such clerical help.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

CHAPTER 571
(House Bill 964)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 1A-1(a),
1A-1(g), 2-4(a), 2-10, 3-2(a), 3-14(a), 3-15(a), 4A-2(b), 8-2(a),
8-5 (b), 9-4 and 16-9 (C) of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement), title
"Election Code," subtitles "State Administrative Board of Election
Laws," "Election Boards and Employees," "Registration of
Voters—General Provisions," "Registration of Voters—How and
by Whom Conducted," "Certificate of Candidacy," "Certificates of
Nomination," "Vacancies in Nominations—Local Vacancies," and
"Voting Machines"; and to repeal Section 1A-1 (f) of Article 33 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume),
title "Election Code," subtitle "State Administrative Board of
Election Laws"; to provide per diem compensation to members of
the State Administrative Board of Election Laws; to remove an
obsolete provision of law relating to the State Administrative
Board maintaining a repository for federal decennial census in-
formation concerning the State; to provide that each local board
of elections maintain an office in accordance with the require-
ments of the State Administrative Board; to provide that each
local board pay advertising at the lowest available local rate for
public notice of the time and place of elections; to change the
time that certain local boards may be open; to provide a procedure
for the use of new registration forms; to require proof of the iden-
tity of an applicant for a temporary certificate of registration;
to provide that a candidate for nomination for Judge of the Su-
preme Bench of Baltimore City file with the State Administrative
Board; to amend the laws relating to candidates for political party
offices and the printing of sample ballots; to amend the laws relat-
ing to the filing of local vacancies in an election; to provide that
each member of a local board sign a certificate relating to the
preparation of a voting machine; and relating generally to the
election laws of this State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 1A-1(a), 1A-1(g), 2-4(a), 2-10, 3-2(a), 3-14(a), 3-
15(a), 4A-2(b), 8-2(a), 8-5(b), 9-4 and 16-9(C) of Article 33 of the
