purchased only so much of such capital stock as may be necessary
to permit them to qualify as such directors.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

(House Bill 823)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 27 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement
Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Bribery; Ob-
structing Justice," for the purpose of increasing the penalties for
bribing certain persons.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 27 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-
title "Bribery; Obstructing Justice," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

27.

If any person shall corruptly or by threats or force endeavor to
influence, intimidate or impede any juror, witness or officer in any
court of this State in the discharge of his duty, or shall corruptly or
by threats or force obstruct or impede, or endeavor to obstruct or
impede, the due administration of justice therein, he shall be liable to
be prosecuted, therefor by indictment, and on conviction thereof be
punished by fine not exceeding [five hundred dollars] one TEN thou-
sand dollars, or by imprisonment not exceeding three [months] years,
or both, according to the nature and aggravation of the offense.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 468(e) of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Supplement),
title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Crimes and Punish-
ments," subheading "Litter Control Law," and to add new Subsec-
tion (i) to Section 468 of said Article, Code, title, subtitle and sub-
heading, to change the penalty for violations of the Litter Control
Law and to provide for the disposition of fines collected for viola-
tions OF THE LITTER CONTROL LAW.
