(ii) For certification in Speech Pathology of these 42 semester
hours, no fewer than 6 may be in formal courses in audiology.
(in) No more than 6 of these 42 semester hours may be in courses
that provide academic credit for clinical practice.
(iv) For certification in Audiology of these 42 semester hours,
at least 24, not including more than 3 credits for thesis disserta-
tion, must be in courses in the field of audiology.
(v) For certification in Speech Pathology of these 42 semester
hours, at least 24, not including more than 3 credits for thesis or
dissertation, must be in courses in the evaluation and management
of speech and language disorders.
(vi) Furthermore, 30 of these 42 semester hours must be in
courses acceptable toward a graduate degree by the college or univer-
sity in which these courses are taken.
(5) Submit evidence of the completion of 275 clock hours of
supervised, direct clinical experience with individuals presenting a
variety of disorders of communication, the experience being obtained
within the training institution or in one of its cooperating programs.
(6) Present written evidence from employers or supervisors
of nine months of full-time professional employment pertinent to
the license being sought. This experience must follow the comple-
tion of the aforesaid requirements.
(7) Pass an examination promulgated and approved by the Board.
The Board shall determine the subject and scope of the examinations.
Written examination may be supplemented by oral examinations
as the Board determines. An applicant who fails his examination
may be re-examined at a subsequent examination upon payment of
another licensing fee, if so determined by the Board.
(b) Registration under Special Conditions.
(1) The Board may waive the special requirements for applicants
who present proof of current licensure in a state which has standards
equivalent to those of this State.
(2) The Board may waive the special requirements for applicants
who hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology or Speech
Pathology of the American Speech and Hearing Association.
(3) THE BOARD MAY WAIVE THE SPECIAL REQUIRE-
MENTS FOR APPLICANTS WHO ARE ACTIVELY ENGAGED
IN THE PRACTICE OF AUDIOLOGY OR SPEECH PATHOLOGY
IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND AS OF THE EFFECTIVE
DATE OF THIS ACT, AND WHOM THE BOARD DETERMINES
TO BE QUALIFIED.
794. Examination.
(a) An applicant for registration who is notified by the Board
that he has fulfilled the requirements of Section 793 shall appear
at a time and place and before persons the Board designates, to be
examined by written and/or practical tests, in order to determine
that he is qualified to practice audiology or speech pathology.
