Sections 74, 79, 83 and 86 of this article shall not apply in Calvert,
Charles, Garrett and St. Mary's [and Washington] counties. Sec-
tion 87 of this article shall apply in Calvert, Charles, Garrett, and
St. Mary's [and Washington] counties but not in any other county
of the State or in Baltimore City. Sections 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 78, 80, 82
and 84 of this article shall apply throughout the entire State.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

(House Bill 212)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 11-202(a)
of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replace-
ment Volume) title "Vehicle Laws," subtitle "Rules of the Road,"
concerning the requirements of stopping at a red traffic signal
and providing under certain circumstances that a vehicle may make
a turn at a red signal.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 11-202(a) of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume), title "Vehicle Laws," subtitle
"Rules of the Road," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
11-202.
(a) Whenever traffic is controlled by traffic-control signals ex-
hibiting different colored lights, or colored lighted arrows, succes-
sively one at a time or in combination, only the colors green, red,
and yellow shall be used, except for special pedestrian signals carry-
ing a word legend, and these lights shall indicate and apply to drivers
of vehicles and pedestrians as follows:
(1) Green indication.
(i) Vehicular traffic facing a circular green signal may proceed
straight through or turn right or left unless a sign at the place
prohibits either such turn. Vehicular traffic, including vehicles turn-
ing right or left, shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles and to
pedestrians lawfully within the intersection or an adjacent crosswalk
at the time the signal is exhibited.
(ii) Vehicular traffic facing a green arrow signal, shown alone or
in combination with another indication, may cautiously enter the
intersection only to make the movement indicated by the arrow, or
another movement as permitted by other indications shown at the
same time. Vehicular traffic shall yield the right-of-way to pedes-
trians lawfully within an adjacent crosswalk and to other traffic
lawfully using the intersection.
