room section, the civil section, the transportation section, the
warrant-fugitive section, the dispatcher's section, and the clerical
section, is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of
that division.
All deputy sheriffs are required to complete a minimum of three
hundred hours (300) of classroom training at an academy recognized
by the police training commission within the first year of employment
to be effective on January 2, 1973.
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THE PRO-
VISIONS OF THIS ACT SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED TO EX-
TEND OR APPLY TO THE SALARY OF THE SHERIFF OF
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY IN OFFICE ON THE EFFEC-
TIVE DATE OF THIS ACT, BUT THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
ACT CONCERNING THE SALARY OF THE SHERIFF OF
PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY SHALL TAKE EFFECT AT THE
BEGINNING OF THE NEXT FOLLOWING TERM OF OFFICE.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety and having been passed
by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.
SEC. 3. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS
ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT JULY 1, 1972.

(Senate Bill 893)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 5 (2)
(A-1) (A) (3) (A-l) (5) of Chapter 425 of the Acts of 1971, to
eliminate a contingency provision with respect to funds to reim-
burse the Department of Forests and Parks for land purchased at
Gunpowder Rifle Range for a new armory construction site.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 5 (2) (A-1) (A) (3) (A-l) (5) of Chapter 425 of the
Acts of 1971 be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
(5) (2) (A-1) (A) (3) (A-l).
(5) To reimburse the Department of Forests and Parks for land
purchased at Gunpowder Rifle Range for construction site for new
armory. [These funds will be provided only in the event that Senate
Bill 549 is not enacted into law.] ... 60,000
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1972.
