disease known as sickle cell anemia. This information shall comply
with the provisions of the section concerning sickle cell anemia in
Article 43.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That if any provision of this
Act or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
invalid for any reason, such invalidity shall not affect any other pro-
visions or any other application of this Act which can be given effect
without the invalid provisions or application, and to this end, all the
provisions of this Act are hereby declared to be severable.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

(Senate Bill 592)
AN ACT to add new Section 22A to Article 73B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume), title "Pensions,"
subtitle "Employees of Municipal Corporations," to follow immedi-
ately after Section 22 thereof, to provide for membership by
masters in chancery of the Circuit Courts for the counties either
in a local pension system or the State Employees' Retirement Sys-
tem, to require approval of the local legislative body and payment
of contributions by local governments in case of election to join
the State System.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 22A be and it is hereby added to Article 73B of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume), title
"Pensions," subtitle "Employees of Municipal Corporations," to
follow immediately after Section 22 thereof, and to read as follows:
22A.
On and after July 1, 1972, masters in chancery who are appointed
in any county by the Circuit Court for the county, and serve on a full-
time basis as masters, shall be eligible at their election for member-
ship in a retirement system wholly or partially maintained at the
expense of a municipal corporation or in the Employees' Retirement
System of the State of Maryland. No masters shall be included in
the State Employees' Retirement System without the approval of
the legislative body of the municipal corporation for which he is
appointed. The municipal corporation shall pay the contributions
required to be paid by the State on behalf of such masters as if they
were State employees.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.
