sions," be and is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
and that Section 2 of Article 96A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1964 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement), title "Water
Resources," subtitle "General Provisions," be and is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, and that Section 8 of Article 96A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume),
title "Water Resources," subtitle "Powers and Functions," be and
is hereby repealed, and that Sections 6 and 9 of the same Article
96A, title "Water Resources," subtitle "Powers and Functions," be
and are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that
Section 15 (c) (2) of Article 96A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1971 Supplement), title "Water Resources," subtitle "Appro-
priation of Waters; Reservoirs and Dams," be and is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that Sections 26A
and 29 (a-1) of Article 96A of the same Article 96A, title "Water
Resources," subtitle "Pollution Abatement," be and are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that Section 48 of
the same Article 96A, title "Water Resources," subtitle "Wells," be
and is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that
Section 52 of the same Article 96A, title "Water Resources," sub-
title "Other Powers and Functions," be and is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, and that Section 57 of Article 96A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume),
title "Water Resources," subtitle "Miscellaneous Provisions," be and
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that Sec-
tions 75 and 76 of Article 96A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Supplement), title "Water Resources," subtitle "Comprehen-
sive Water Pollution Control Program," be and are hereby repealed,
and that Sections 77, 78, and 79 of the same Article 96A, title
"Water Resources," subtitle "Comprehensive Water Pollution Con-
trol Program," be and are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, and that Sections 89 (b) and 91 of the same Article
96A, title "Water Resources," subtitle "Maryland Potomac Water
Authority," be and are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, all to read as follows:

(b) [In the exercise of this responsibility there is hereby created
a State Department of Water Resources] This responsibility shall
be exercised by the Department of Natural Resources, which shall
have the powers and duties provided for in this article. [In addi-
tion, the Department shall have those powers and duties formerly
exercised by the Water Pollution Control Commission and the
present Department of Geology, Mines and Water Resources which
are transferred herein to the Department. Nothing in this article
shall in any manner limit the responsibilities of the Department of
Chesapeake Bay Affairs as provided for in Article 66C of this Code.]

(a) As used in this article, the following terms shall mean, unless
the context clearly provides otherwise:
