Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

CHAPTER 447
(Senate Bill 330)

AN ACT to add new Section 14 (e-1) 11C to Article 49B of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume and 1970
Supplement), title "Human Relations Commission," subtitle "En-
forcement Powers of Commission," "DISCRIMINATION IN PUB-
LIC ACCOMMODATIONS," to follow immediately after Section
14 (e) 11B thereof, to enable the Human Relations Commission,
under certain conditions, to
suspend temporarily or revoke perma-
nently the
license of any respondent licensed to do business or to
practice a profession under any State licensing requirement who
is found to have engaged in a discriminatory act in violation of
this Article. TO PROVIDE THAT IT IS UNLAWFUL FOR ANY
PERSON, BUSINESS, CORPORATION, PARTNERSHIP, CO-
PARTNERSHIP, ASSOCIATION OR ANY OTHER INDI-
VIDUAL, AGENT, EMPLOYEE, GROUP OR FIRM WHICH IS
LICENSED OR REQUIRED UNDER THE DEPARTMENT OF
LICENSING AND REGULATION TO REFUSE, WITHHOLD
FROM, DENY OR DISCRIMINATE AGAINST ANY PERSON
THE ACCOMMODATIONS, ADVANTAGES, FACILITIES,
PRIVILEGES, SALES OR SERVICES BECAUSE OF THE
RACE, SEX, COLOR, CREED OR NATIONAL ORIGIN OF ANY
PERSON; AND GENERALLY RELATING THERETO.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 44 (e-1) 11C be and it is hereby added to Article
49B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume
and 1970 Supplement), title "Human Relations Commission," sub-
title "Enforcement Powers of Commission," "DISCRIMINATION
IN PUBLIC ACCOMMODATIONS," to follow immediately after
Section 44 14 (e) 11B thereof and to read as follows:

14.

(e) (1) If the respondent is licensed to do business or to practice

a profession (as defined elsewhere in the Code), under any State

licensing requirement, the Commission may, if it finds that the
respondent has engaged in any discriminatory act within the scope
of these subtitles, suspend the
license of the respondent for thirty
days for its first
violation. The Commission may revoke the license
permanently if the same respondent repeats a
violation of these sub-

titles.

RATION, PARTNERSHIP, CO-PARTNERSHIP OR ASSOCIA-
