CHAPTER 418
(House Bill 925)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 158(k)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Supple-
ment), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Boards of License
Commissioners," to provide for six full-time and four part-time
alcoholic beverage inspectors in Prince George's County to be

appointed by the Board of License Commissioners, to provide for
a chief inspector to be appointed by the Board of License Com-
missioners and
relating generally to the appointment of alcoholic
beverage inspectors in Prince George's County and
their status
as to the County merit system. THAT THE BOARD OF LICENSE
COMMISSIONERS IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY SHALL
APPOINT AN ADMINISTRATOR, AN ATTORNEY AND SIX
FULL-TIME AND FOUR PART-TIME ALCOHOLIC BEVER-
AGE INSPECTORS, TO PROVIDE FOR A CHIEF INSPECTOR
TO BE APPOINTED BY THE BOARD OF LICENSE COM-
MISSIONERS, AND RELATING GENERALLY TO THE
POWERS OF APPOINTMENT OF THE BOARD OF LICENSE
COMMISSIONERS AND THE STATUS OF THOSE AP-
POINTED AS TO THE COUNTY MERIT SYSTEM.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 158(k) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1970 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Boards
of License Commissioners," be and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

158.

(k) Prince George's County. The inspectors appointed for Prince
George's County
IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, THE BOARD
OF LICENSE COMMISSIONERS SHALL APPOINT AN ADMIN-
ISTRATOR, AN ATTORNEY, AND ALL INSPECTORS FOR THE
BOARD. THE INSPECTORS shall each have all the powers of a
peace officer or a constable or sheriff of the State of Maryland, and
shall make oath to faithfully perform the duties entrusted to them, as
provided in Article 1, Section 6 of the Constitution of the State of
Maryland, and they shall furnish bond in the penalty of $2,000.00
to the board of license commissioners of Prince George's County
and the Board of County Commissioners of Prince George's County
jointly, conditioned that they shall well and faithfully execute their
office in all things appertaining, thereto. The cost of said bond
shall be paid by the County Commissioners of Prince George's
County. The Inspectors of Prince George's County shall be
known as "alcoholic beverage inspectors for Prince George's
County." The inspectors shall all be appointed by the Board of

License Commissioners for Prince George's County, and shall have

the duty of visiting and inspecting every licensed premises in Prince
George's County periodically and carrying on such other duties as
the board of license commissioners of Prince George's County might
prescribe. [The Board of County Commissioners for Prince George's
County shall appoint all such inspectors.] There shall be [three]
six full-time and [nine] four part-time inspectors all of whom shall
be residents of Prince George's County, Maryland. All [three] six
