(House Bill 1105)

AN ACT relating to the Washington Suburban Sanitary District, to
repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 83-82(c) of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1963 Edition),
and Section 71-31(c) of the Montgomery County Code (1965 Edi-
tion) , being Articles 17 and 16, respectively, of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, titled "Prince George's County" and
"Montgomery County," subtitled "Washington Suburban Sanitary
District," relating to the collection of water and sewer service
charges, and providing for a change in late payment penalty ADDI-
TIONAL CHARGE to 5% per month of the unpaid charges.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 83-82(c) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1963 Edition), and Section 71-31(c) of the Mont-
gomery County Code (1965 Edition), being Articles 17 and 16, respec-
tively, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, titled "Prince
George's County" and "Montgomery County," subtitled "Washing-
ton Suburban Sanitary District," be and they are hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, TO READ AS FOLLOWS:

83-82 (71-31).

(c) Unpaid bills. From and after June 1, 1957, if any bill for
water and sewer usage charges sent out in regular course by the
Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission shall remain unpaid
after 20 30 days from the date of sending, IF FOR A SERVICE
PERIOD OF THREE MONTHS OR MORE, AND AFTER 20 DAYS
IF FOR A SERVICE BILL PERIOD OF LESS THAN THREE
MONTHS, THEN a late payment penalty ADDITIONAL CHARGE
of [ten] five per centum per month [(10%)] (5%) of such unpaid
charges shall be added to the said bill and shall be collected as a part
of such bill; such penalty ADDITIONAL CHARGE being in addition
to and not in substitution for or derogation of any other right or
remedy heretofore or hereafter granted to the commission by any
other law.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.
