626                              Laws of Maryland                      [Ch. 313

Article and title of said Code, subtitle "Greater Laurel Hospital
Authority," to amend the laws of this State relating to Health in
order to correct certain errors therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 197-9(a), 197-16(c) and 197-23 of Article 43 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Supplement), title "Health," sub-
title "Maryland Poultry Products Inspection Act," be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that Sections
757, 760(b), (e), (f), and 766 of said Article and title of said Code,
subtitle "Greater Laurel Hospital Authority," be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and all to read as follows:

197-9.

(a) All poultry products inspected at any official establishment
under the authority of this subtitle and found to be not adulterated,
shall at the time they leave the establishment bear, in distinctly
legible form, on their shipping containers and other containers as
the Board may require, the information required under paragraph
[(1)] (l) of Section 197-4 of this subtitle. In addition, the Board
whenever it is practicable and necessary for the protection of the
public, may require nonconsumer packaged carcasses at the time
they leave the establishment to bear directly thereon in distinctly
legible form any information required under paragraph [(1)]
(l).

197-16.

(c) The exemptions provided for in subsection (a) (6) and (7) of
this [subsection] section shall not apply if the poultry producer or
other person engages in the current calendar year in the business of
buying or selling any poultry or poultry products other than as
specified in such paragraphs. No exemption under subsections (a)
(6), (7) or (b) of this section shall apply to any poultry producer
or other person who slaughters or processes the products of more than
5,000 turkeys or an equivalent number of poultry of other species in
the current calendar year (four birds of other species being deemed
the equivalent of one turkey).

197-23.

Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed to [effect] affect the
cleaning, picking, or processing of wild geese, ducks, quail, pheasants
or other species of wildlife.

757.

The board of directors herein provided for shall exercise all of the
powers and authority given to the Authority. The board of directors
shall have authority to pass all necessary bylaws required to con-
struct, operate and maintain any comprehensive public health facility
including a public hospital facility in the general vicinity of the City
of Laurel, which bylaws must be first approved by the State Depart-
ment of Health and [the] Mental Hygiene and shall pass all necessary
rules and regulations relating or pertaining to such facilities.
