CHAPTER 241
(Senate Bill 548)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 21 of
Article 95 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement
Volume), title "Treasurer," to provide for depositories of public
funds giving security as provided for in Article 90, Section 9 of
the Code, satisfactory to the Governor and the Treasurer.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 21 of Article 95 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1969 Replacement Volume), title "Treasurer," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

21.

The Treasurer may deposit the moneys of the State in such bank
or banks as he may so select, or in such trust company or trust com-
panies, incorporated under the laws of this State and doing business
therein, as he may, from time to time, with the approval of the
Governor, select, such depositories giving security in the form of
collateral as provided for in Article 90, Section 9, as amended from
time to time,
satisfactory to the Governor and the Treasurer, for the
safekeeping and forthcoming, when required, of said deposits.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June JULY 1, 1971.

CHAPTER 242
(Senate Bill 552)

AN ACT to repeal Section 56B of Article 78 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title "Public Service
Commission Law," subtitle "Functions, Duties and Powers of the
Commission," providing for the repeal of that section of the Public
Service law which requires every mass transit or transportation
system or company operating in the metropolitan transit district
to pay an annual seat tax of $4.00 to the Commission and to be
deposited with the State Treasurer as general fund revenue, re-
peal of this section being necessary in order to provide for uniform
licensing of all passenger carriers under the jurisdiction of the
Public Service Commission.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 56B of Article 78 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1969 Replacement Volume), title "Public Service Commission Law,"
subtitle "Functions, Duties and Powers of the Commission," be and
it is hereby repealed.
