the Board of Medical Examiners may license doctors of osteopathy
from other jurisdictions who have, since January 1, 1960, gradu-
ated from approved schools of osteopathy, passed the examination
for the practice of medicine and surgery given to graduates of
approved medical schools in said other jurisdiction, and provided
that the other jurisdiction grants the same privilege to doctors
of osteopathy licensed to practice medicine and surgery in the
State of Maryland, and generally relating thereto.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 124 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1970 Supplement), title "Health," subtitle "Practitioners of Medi-
cine," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
124.
(a) The Board shall license without examination the following:
(1) Applicants having the qualifications required by Section 123
and having certificates of proficiency and professional standing of
the National Board of Medical Examiners or Boards of Medical
Examiners of other jurisdictions, the requirements of which are
equal to, or greater than, those of this State, provided that such
other jurisdictions grant the same privileges to licensed physicians
of this State.
(2) Applicants licensed under the provisions of Sections 467-480,
inclusive, of Article 43 of this Code and practicing and residing in
the State of Maryland on June 1, 1967, and graduates on or after
1940 of schools of osteopathy, approved by the American Osteopathic
Association, or graduates prior to 1940 of such approved schools
of osteopathy provided that said applicants have completed a re-
fresher educational course approved by the Board and were prac-
ticing and residing in the State of Maryland on June 1, 1967.
(3) Applicants from another jurisdiction who, since January 1,
1960, have been granted the degree of Doctor of Osteopathy from a
school of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Associa-
tion, provided that said applicant has passed the examination for the
practice of medicine and surgery in said other jurisdiction given to
graduates of approved medical schools, and provided further that
said other jurisdiction grants the same privilege to doctors of oste-
opathy licensed to practice medicine and surgery in this State.
[(b) Nothing herein applies to doctors of osteopathy licensed to
practice medicine in other jurisdictions.]
[(c)] (b) Nothing contained herein alters or diminishes the right
of any osteopath licensed in this State on or before June 1, 1967, to
practice osteopathy.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.
