per day, plus reasonable compensation for mileage to and from
court.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 19 (a) of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume and 1970 Supplement), title "Juries," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
19.
(a) Jurors in Washington County shall receive [eight] fifteen
dollars per day and a reasonable amount, in the discretion of the
County Commissioners for each mile over five miles in going to and
returning from court; in Queen Anne's County, seven dollars and
fifty cents per day; in Caroline, Harford, Kent, Montgomery, Somer-
set and Talbot counties, and in Baltimore City, ten dollars per day,
and in Anne Arundel County, fifteen dollars per day, and no extra
allowance shall be given either for mileage or overtime in Anne
Arundel, Caroline, Harford, Montgomery, Somerset and Talbot
counties and in Baltimore City; in Carroll County, eight dollars per
day; and in all other counties, except Allegany, Baltimore, Calvert,
Charles, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Howard, Prince George's, St.
Mary's and Wicomico counties, five dollars per day for each and every
day they shall attend the several courts of this State as jurors and
fifteen cents for each mile over five miles for going to and returning
from the court, once in each term, to be paid by the counties, respec-
tively, in which courts are held. In altimore BALTIMORE County,
jurors shall receive per diem compensation in such amount as shall
be set, from time to time, by the judges of the Circuit Court of Balti-
more County. Jurors in Frederick County shall receive fifteen dollars
($15.00) per day for each and every day they shall attend the Circuit
Court of Frederick County as jurors and a reasonable amount in the
discretion of the County Commissioners, for each mile going to and
returning from the court.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

AN ACT to add new Section 192(3a) to Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title "Public Edu-
cation," subtitle "Chapter 17. Teachers' Retirement System," to
follow immediately after Section 192(3) thereof amending the
laws concerning the membership of the Teachers' Retirement
System of the State of Maryland in order to add thereto certain
members and/or beneficiaries of the Employees' Retirement Sys-
tem of the City of Baltimore, and providing generally for the pro-
