CHAPTER 23
(House Bill 378)
AN ACT to add new Section 36A to Article 26 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1970 Supple-
ment), title "Courts," subtitle "Circuit Courts for the Counties—
Court Stenographers," to follow immediately after Section 36
thereof, to allow the senior resident judge of Talbot County to
expend a certain sum of money for legal research on an annual
basis.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 36A be and it is hereby added to Article 26 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1970
Supplement), title "Courts," subtitle "Circuit Courts for the Counties
—Court Stenographers," to follow immediately after Section 36
thereof, and to read as follows:
36A.
The senior resident judge of the second judicial circuit residing
in Talbot County shall, subject to budget limitations, have the right
to expend not more than $6,500.00 annually for legal research. This
sum may be paid on a salary or contractual basis upon certification
by the judge to the County Commissioners of Talbot County. The
County Commissioners of Talbot County shall include this expendi-
ture in their yearly budget. For the purposes of this section the
senior resident judge shall be that active judge who first took the
oath of office as judge of the Circuit Court for Talbot County.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

(House Bill 387)
AN ACT to add new Section 37(d) to Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1970 Supplement), title "Public Education,"
subtitle "County Boards of Education," to follow immediately
after Section 37(c) thereof, authorizing in Allegany County reim-
bursement to the members of the Board of Education of the county
three hundred dollars annually for traveling and other expenses.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 37(d) be and it is hereby added to Article 77 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Supplement), title "Public
Education," subtitle "County Boards of Education," to follow immedi-
ately after Section 37(c) thereof, and to read as follows:
