Section 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 1-216.2 of the
Anne Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 1, "Ad-
ministration", Subtitle 2, "Personnel", Article II, "Classified Service", be,
and it is hereby repealed, and new Section 1-216.2 is enacted in lieu thereof,
to stand in the place and stead of the section so repealed, and to read as
follows:

Section 1-216.2

(a) The Public Safety Pay Schedule with 24 grades, a minimum,
increment steps, and a maximum salary is as follows:

(b) Every classified employee assigned to the Public Safety Pay
Schedule shall be placed in the increment step of his pay grade which he
would have achieved if he had received an increment step increase for each
full year of continuous satisfactory service since his date of employment
(or July 1, 1965, whichever is later); except that any such employee who
has received a promotion to a higher classification shall also be bound by
any additional regulations in effect at the time of such promotion.

Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Ordinance
shall take effect forty-five (45) days from the date it becomes law, provided
at such time, the provisions hereof shall be applied retroactively to July
10, 3, 1970.
