2-64. Generally.
There is hereby established a department of police and the chief
administrative officer shall serve as the director. The department shall
include the county police and shall have the authority, functions, and
activities which are prescribed by law.
Section 16. Section 2-71, Chapter 2, title "Administration," of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
2-71. Department of recreation established; director generally.
There is hereby established, under the general supervision of the chief
administrative officer, and as a department of the county government, a
department of recreation under the immediate direction of a director
of recreation. The director shall administer the recreational program
of the county herein authorized. In administering such program the
director shall have the authority, upon the consent of the particular agency
or organization concerned, to make use of the recreational facilities of the
board of education and other agencies or organizations, both public and
private, and shall endeavor to coordinate the county's recreational program
with the recreational programs of any such organizations whenever such
coordination will promote the best interests of the county and its citizens.
Section 17. Section 2-79, Chapter 2, title "Administration," of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
2-79. Generally.
(a) Established; director generally. There is hereby established a
department of economic development under the immediate direction of a
director of economic development.
(b) Functions. The department shall have the following functions:
Organize a broad range of factual information about the economy, society,
government and other aspects of Montgomery County pertinent to the
economic development thereof; undertake studies of economic development
opportunities available in the county and make the information available
to interested persons; provide information and assistance to persons or
organizations interested in locating business and industry in Montgomery
County; furnish information and assistance concerning public utilities,
zoning, natural resources, transportation, education and other subjects of
interest to businesses and industry located or considering location in the
county; establish and maintain a comprehensive information and research
program, including the preparation and editing of research and information
material on county activities and programs, handling of complaints and
requests for information on county activities, assisting the county executive
in the preparation of an annual report; and such other functions as may
be prescribed by law.
(c) Economic development advisory committee. The council is
hereby authorized to adopt resolutions appointing and designating the
functions of a county economic development advisory committee.
Section 18. Section 2-80, Chapter 2, title "Administration," of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
